How it works
The Lumetallix reagent reacts only with lead to form a unique crystal structure that fluoresces green when exposed to a specific wavelength of UV light. This highly sensitive reaction occurs with lead concentrations as low as 200 ppm (parts per million), and the bright green glow makes even microscopic lead dust visible.
(almost anything)
What Can You Test?
- Paint
- Ceramics and Dishes
- Toys and Plastic
- Dust
- Pipes and Plumbing
- Glass
- Soil
- Clothing
How to Use
1. Shine the Leadlight:Â Use the included UV LeadLight to shine on the surface you want to test.
2. Spray the Reagent:Â While shining the light, spray Lumetallix onto the test area.
3. Watch for the Green Glow:Â If lead is present, the surface will immediately glow bright greenâvisible to the naked eye.
The Nerdy Science
1. Chelation: Lumetallix uses a reagent that binds to lead ions (PbÂČâș), ignoring other metals, ensuring high selectivity.
2. Fluorescent Tagging: The lead-binding molecule is tagged with a fluorophore. When it captures lead, it glows under UV light..
3. Solid Sample Activation: A mild acid or buffer helps release lead from solids, allowing the reagent to bind.
4. Visual Detection: Shine the UV Light. If lead is present, the area glows bright green.
